Interview with Bluebell
We’re in the midst of reorganizing the back-end of J of the Day, so things are a bit crazy with the blog at the moment! Amidst the madness, however, we did get the change to interview someone amazing, namely Annabel Jones of the London duo Bluebell. We love this girl, ever since we first heard her demo version of “Normal Heights” last year.

The new Icona Pop video / single is a bit of a departure from other stuff they’ve done / sung, but I’m loving their new direction. I think this could definitely be a hit (like, RADIO hit) and is worth a listen for this line alone: “You’re from the 70s, but I’m a 90s bitch.” Incredible.
Foxes - White Coats
Anthem Alert.
I was like: ‘Fuck, I could die. We could all die, at any time. Why the hell am I wasting my time? I’m just going to do what I want to do for the rest of my life. I don’t need money.’” To the mild horror of her parents, Claire turned her back on the world of brain biology to pursue Grimes full time. “I’ve completely fucked my life,” she admits cheerily. “I don’t live anywhere, I don’t see my friends. You have to sacrifice a lot of things to do this. But the pay-off is this incredible freedom.
Right, so real talk: love Dev Hynes aka Blood Orange. This video is weird, not sure if I actually like it, but definitely worth a watch. Champagne Coast is probably one of my favorite songs ever.
Fiona Apple - Every Single Night
I like to think she’s as pleased that we share a name as I am.

Grimes was on Jools last night. This is probably one of the best live performances I’ve ever seen of hers, seriously wonderful. Loving her bleachy hair, as well as the eye on her forehead.
BLUEBELL - Normal Heights Demo
I was absolutely obsessed with this song when I first saw the video for it last summer, but then I kind of forgot about it until I saw yesterday they’ve re-done it a bit, and are releasing it as a single on Killing Moon Records on June 11th. Get excited!
The older version is above, because I’m a moving images kinda girl (new version doesn’t have a video yet) but you can listen to it here.
Charli XCX’s Mix Tape
Charli XCX has released a MIX TAPE. She’s mayje, mega, etc.
Listen to it below!
So many of my faves are on there, like Cyndi and Azaelia. Charli has seriously awesome taste, I follow her on Twitter and she’s always posting links to the most LOLz-worthy old school jams, like Shania, Robyn and Paris Hilton.
